2K Games is a video game publishing subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive. It was created on January 25, 2005 after Take-Two acquired developer Visual Concepts and its wholly-owned subsidiary Kush Games from Sega for States dollar|$" target="_blank" >*24 million.
The name "2K Games" comes from Visual Concepts' sports game lineup typically referred to as the 2K series. 2K Games is headquartered in Manhattan. The label publishes a wide variety of console and PC titles developed both internally and externally.
2K Games also operates 2K Sports, which publishes the sports titles of Visual Concepts, Kush Games and until recently, Indie Built. The acquisition of Indie Built Studios adds the Top Spin and Amped series to the 2K Sports line of games. In mid-2006, Indie Built was closed down. 2K Sports has the exclusive third-party rights to produce Major League Baseball games. The baseball series is 2K Sports Major League Baseball series.
